Diane Nielsen received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wartburg
College in Waverly, Iowa and her Master of Arts in Music Education from the
University of St. Thomas. Her 31 years of teaching experience includes working
with students in various combinations of K-12 choral programs. For the past
16 years she co-directed the District 279 Children’s Chorus, an audition
only 100-voice fourth through sixth grade choir. Diane is currently a Vocal
Music Specialist with Osseo Area Schools and Artistic Director of the Twin Cities
Youth Chorale. She has been a member of the TRC since 2002 and serves as a board
member, assistant director and soprano section leader. An active member of the
American Choral Director’s Association, Chorus America, and the National
Association of Music Education, she also has two grown children and lives in
Maple Grove with her husband, Dan, a teacher in the Wayzata District
