The
Two Rivers Chorale is an engaging 80-voice community choir
based in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, comprised
of seasoned amateur singers who represent the rich choral
heritage of Minnesota and the upper Midwest. Founded in
1998 and led by artistic director and conductor Timothy
Sawyer since 2004, TRC has presented concerts at Benson
Great Hall in St. Paul, and in summer concerts at the Minnesota
Landscape Arboretum, and the Lake Harriet Band Shell. In
addition, TRC has performed for Fine Arts Series at First
Presbyterian Church in Rochester and Christ Presbyterian
Church in Edina. In 2003, members of TRC took a concert
tour of the British Isles. In 2007, TRC was invited by the
Minnesota chapter of the American Choral Directors Association
to perform for its fall convention, the only community choir
in the state selected to perform. In April 2008, TRC celebrated
10 years by performing the program “Made in America” at
Benson Great Hall which included music by Minnesota composers.
The Two Rivers Chorale derives its name from the convergence
of the great Mississippi and Rum rivers in Anoka, the birthplace
of the TRC. The connection between water and choral music
is a powerful one – and choral music “made in Minnesota”
has become a mighty musical ‘river,’ known and celebrated
throughout the world.
